Skipping Ann Arbor Was a Relief!

This year, I decided not to apply to the Ann Arbor Art Fair. I'm glad I did! Apparently, everyone I know who was there this year reported poor sales, and the temperatures were pushing 100 degrees fahrenheit. It rained and stormed off and on throughout the four day event. I visited, and bought art from someone whose work I've been collecting for a few years, and got out of Dodge. Crowds have been thinner each year, and I've been to this fair as a visitor, volunteer, or a vendor, for the last 16 years. It's not the fair it once was, and I'm not entirely sure what's happening. ****************************************************************************************************************** There is new art each year, and for the last few years, as several of the longtime artists have retired, a wave of new artists has begun entering the fair. The new art is a little edgier. It's bolder and more provocative. The new exhibitors appear to be bringing ART, rather than decor. That's a welcome change, but is it too late? ****************************************************************************************************************** I don't know if I'll do this fair next year, but I DO know that I'm personally looking for more non-traditional venues for selling my art.
