It's a Bit of a Stretch

Some Haworthias have a rambling habit once they reach a certain size. They reach for the sun, and like Icarus, get tall enough to be a little too close to what they sought. In the South African heat, they don't have to get too high off the ground to get all the sun they need, so they end up with an undulating growth pattern. They reach up, fall back, reach up, fall back, over and over along their vinelike length. The one I've painted here is just getting started, and has only begun its swim across the dune.
